OUR STORY

Why SpikeLite Exists

As a long-time volleyball coach and current volleyball podcaster I always complained about the way we introduce young kids to our wonderful game. Many meet volleyball for the first time in a PE class, where the ball is hard and unforgiving. Kids leave that first encounter with bruised forearms and a stubborn determination to get a medical excuse for the rest of the unit.

FROM IDEA TO COURT

How SpikeLite Came To Be

In 2020, I decided to quit complaining and do something about it. That’s how SpikeLite was born. It took a few years of tinkering and testing on my own gym rats to get it right. The original had a balloon bladder, but the final piece of the puzzle came from my buddy Ken Murczek, Head Coach at Emporia State, who improved it by swapping in a beach ball bladder.

My Simple Goal is To Grow the Game

I hope you’ll help me put a SpikeLite into the hands of every young kid you know.
